SURVIVAL AWARENESS PROGRAMS(YM)

Children today are living a fast-paced life and exhibit Nature Deficiency Syndrome. Their exposure to technological advancement and the digitized world has weaned them from our primitive life skills. The experienced child-friendly faculty of the Wild Survival Academy bridges this gap through the Survival Awareness Programs (Young Mind) out in the Wilderness and Nature. Here the children get the freedom to explore and learn from Mother Nature. The faculty introduces them to Wilderness Survival Skills to bring out the explorer in every child.

WHY SURVIVAL TRAINING FOR CHILDREN

There are numerous advantages to children learning in nature. Spending time outdoors and incorporating nature into education can have a positive impact on a child's physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Here are some of the key advantages:

  1. Physical Health:

    • Increased physical activity: Nature encourages children to be more active, promoting better physical fitness and reducing the risk of childhood obesity.

    • Exposure to fresh air and vitamin D: Outdoor learning provides an opportunity for children to breathe fresh air and absorb vitamin D from sunlight, which is essential for overall health.

  2. Mental and Emotional Well-being:

    • Reduced stress and anxiety: Nature has a calming effect on the mind, reducing stress and anxiety levels in children.

    • Improved mood: Spending time in nature has been shown to elevate mood and reduce symptoms of depression.

    • Enhanced creativity: Natural environments stimulate creativity and imaginative play, fostering emotional development.

  3. Cognitive Development:

    • Enhanced problem-solving skills: Nature-based activities often require children to think critically and solve problems, which can improve cognitive skills.

    • Increased curiosity and interest in learning: Exploring natural environments can spark curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

    • Improved concentration: Time spent in nature can help children focus better in the classroom, as it provides opportunities for unstructured, sensory-rich experiences.

  4. Environmental Awareness and Stewardship:

    • Connection to the natural world: Being in nature fosters a sense of wonder and a deeper connection to the environment.

    • Understanding ecosystems: Children can learn about the interconnectedness of ecosystems and the importance of environmental conservation.

  5. Social Development:

    • Teamwork and cooperation: Outdoor activities often require children to collaborate with peers, promoting social skills and teamwork.

    • Conflict resolution: Natural settings provide opportunities for children to resolve conflicts and develop important interpersonal skills.

  6. Sensory Exploration:

    • Sensory development: Nature provides a wide range of sensory experiences, from feeling different textures to hearing birdsong and smelling flowers.

    • Development of fine and gross motor skills: Climbing, balancing, and other physical activities in nature can help refine motor skills.

  7. Independence and Self-confidence:

    • Self-reliance: Nature-based learning allows children to take risks in a controlled environment, fostering independence and self-confidence.

    • Mastery and achievement: Overcoming challenges in a natural setting can give children a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem.

  8. Appreciation for Diversity:

    • Exposure to biodiversity: Children can learn about different species of plants and animals, promoting an appreciation for biodiversity.

  9. Reduction in Screen Time:

    • Nature-based education can help reduce the amount of time children spend in front of screens, which can have numerous health and developmental benefits.

Overall, incorporating nature into a child's education can provide a holistic and well-rounded learning experience that contributes to their overall well-being and development.
